CHAIRMAN’S FOREWORD

I am delighted to offer you our 2012 Festival Syllabus. Following our very successful 2011 Festival Season, our team has worked very hard to put together a syllabus that reflects all those many popular classes across the Music, Speech & Drama, and Dance categories, with some exciting new ones for your consideration and enjoyment.

You will notice from the overview of dates on the back page that the Dance Section takes place a week earlier than last year. This is entirely due to our need to fit around the availability of Shanklin Theatre. We are delighted to be part of the Theatre's new born success and thank the theatre team making us so welcome in 2011. In addition to Dance, our Pop and Musical Theatre Classes and our Band Day will again take place at Shanklin Theatre.

Our highly successful Bursary Scheme is back by popular demand for 2012! We will be offering Bursaries in Dance, Speech & Drama, and Music.

As a finale to the Dance Section of the Festival we will be staging a Song and Dance Extravaganza at Shanklin Theatre on Sunday March 18th at 2:30pm. Tickets will be available in the New Year from the Theatre Box Office.

On behalf of the Festival Trustees, I would like to thank Janet Coates for stepping in as Syllabus and Programme Secretary, after our previous secretary felt unable to carry on in the post. Thanks a million Janet! May I also convey heartfelt thanks to our team of enthusiastic volunteers, without whom our Festival would simply not be possible.

It will be a pleasure to meet friends old and new at our Competitions next March. Don't forget that the closing date for entries is DECEMBER 1st. Entry forms can be found in this syllabus and may also be downloaded from our website:
www.iwmcf.co.uk

Here's to 2012 and our 82nd Musical Competition Festival.
