THE FOLLOWING RULES APPLY TO BOTH THE SENIOR & JUNIOR SECTIONS

(To be read in conjunction with the Festival Rules in the White Section)

1.      Own Choice items have a time limit of 8 minutes, unless otherwise stated.  This time limit must be strictly adhered to or the performance may be stopped by the Adjudicator.

2.      Own Choice pieces may not be repeated within 5 years; please note that this rule prevents the performance of any item more that once in this Festival.

3.      An extra copy of Own Choice music must be supplied to the Adjudicator.

4.      Competitors of any age (unless otherwise stated) who are holders of Diplomas and are either amateurs or professionals are eligible to enter OPEN Classes.

5.      Sight reading pieces will  be chosen by the Adjudicator, except Classes 730 and 906.

6.      The Closing Date for all entries is:  1st December 2009.

VOCAL & CHORAL

i.      Songs may be transposed by a tone or half tone to suit voices.

ii.      A backing track for accompaniment may be used ONLY in Classes where specifically indicated.  When allowed, a backing track may be used for the accompaniment, provided it is only instrumental music and there is no singing on it at all.  Competitors must provide their own equipment on which to play the backing track and this should not delay the smooth running of the Class.
